Preaching in the Albania

Our harinam tour is now finished, and in a few days we will try to write all that has happened in our last part of the tour through the Monte Negro, Albania and Macedonia.

This report was written by Mohan das directly from the Albania because he wanted to inform devotees about the present situation in Albania.

Just to shortly inform devotes what is going on in Albania...i am now in internet cafe in Tirana - we are alive, happy and tired...before albania i just want to say that we had amazing harinams in Montenegro...so many people were there -- rivers of people... so many books, CD-s and tulasi necklaces we distributed...we were thinking that financially will not make "positive zero"  but in all this countries(bosnia, montenegro, albania) which standard are so much below then Slovenia, Italy or Croatia, we get much more donations and sold more books then in this more richer...especially in one city in Montenegro - Ulcinj - which is on the border with Albania and where is 80 % of Albanian was outstanding ...

Thousand of people, around us always circle of few hundred people..it was amazing ..there we sold first book of Srila Prabhupada on Albanian - Isopanisad...some devotes form our group has said that it was best harinam on all tour...and it was good sign for going to completely new country for preaching - Albania...

And then in the morning of 24.08. on the most auspicious day of Balarama appearance we had entered in Albania... After some time we realized that devotes and people outside of Albania have completely wrong opinion about Albania..nice country, not so poor as everybody thinks, and amazingly simple people...first harinam was in Skhadar - north of Albania, without any tourist and second by size in country.....

We were very careful and trying to find nice place for first harinam ever in Albania... we have found main square, sit and start harinam with Prabhupada pranama mantras... so many people came, we sold books on Albanian and English, and people were so open, not even one bed word...we were amazed... also, Krishna send one boy who is the only one who is practicing yoga in Skhadar.. of course, trough internet and he is mixing everything...Also during this first harinam in Albania a team of news reporters came to us, so they asked few questions and they took photos. We took it as a good sign from Krishna for the preaching activities in Albania.

We were so happy and then we went to Durres which is the biggest port in Albania and third by size..European city... because we didn’t have place to sleep and nothing to eat we had to find something.. After some time we found one very nice and simple family. They rented us their apartment and they went to sleep on the attic. They never heard for yoga or the Himalayas, but they liked us a lot so they asked us to come there again next year.

Because of all this searching the place to sleep we started harinam vary late at 22:10h...we never started harinam so late in all this 7 years of our festivals...

So many strange faces are out in that time, but it was also so nice..so many nice people..i think it will be more dangerous if we have harinam so late in Zagreb, Ljubljana or Milano or Roma... Here people are so simple..just show them smile and you are their friend immediately... harinam went till 23:30 and we were sad because we didn’t started earlier... rivers of people were there and they are very eager for new things and for dance...

Tomorrow morning we had harinam in the center of Tirana, and one devotee was doing sankirtan with books and magazines. Harinam was very nice and we met a lot of people who were interested in our philosophy. In Tirana there is many people who can speak English so it was much easier to preach.

At the end we distributed 76 magazines and ten books during this two days in Albania. Although the language barrier was too big - nobody knows English , only  Italian and we don’t know Italian, and although 80% are Muslim people - it was really amazing.. it was not so easy to penetrate gunas and the shield of maya but it was more beautiful then we think... so devotes don’t worry - Albania is nice European country, very open for new things and ready to became Krishna conscious... Montenegro also... we have started revolution and let see what will happened in the future..i can just say who ever will come in this two countries to preach will have big success - i am sure... till next info - all the best...
